KAIUT YOGA

WHAT IS KAIUT YOGA?

(pronounced kai-oot)

Drawing from ancient yogic traditions developed for the modern-day body, Kaiut supports restoration and preservation of biomechanical health, helping cultivate deep rest in the body and build stress resilience. Kaiut promotes agility, mental poise, and fluidity of movement, helping us to age with enhanced grace and ease and be our best selves.

Kaiut includes hundreds of methodically designed sequences delivered with precise intention, with consistent results over time. Each body moves based on our individual story—body use, trauma, and genetics. The sequences engage the natural intelligence of body and mind – rewiring the brain and nervous system. Rather than achieving exact shapes for each pose, the focus of Kaiut is to improve the overall function of the body.

The asanas are designed to reveal specific blockages within each person’s body. To progress safely and efficiently, students are encouraged to find their optimum within each pose.

Kaiut yoga poses can be customized for everyone, depending on restrictions and imbalances in the body, helping to restore mobility and freedom of movement. The focus of Kaiut is to find your optimal position within each pose, rather than attaining an ideal form.

Kaiut yoga diverges from conventional practices through its addressing of chronic issues caused by modern lifestyle habits—prolonged sitting, less physical activity, and repetitive stress injuries. Its foundation lies in the belief that true wellness is accessed through a holistic approach, activating the body's innate healing system.

WHAT ARE ITS ORIGINS?

This joint-centric yoga was developed by its founder, Francisco Kaiut, a doctor from Brazil. Due to trauma and chronic pain in his body from a childhood shooting accident, Francisco was drawn to study natural healing systems throughout Europe. He opened his first yoga studio at age 18, and has spent over 40 years designing and refining the Kaiut Method.

“I love yoga with all of the cells in my body. The more I practice, study, teach and the more I see results, the more my passion for this work grows.”Francisco Kaiut

WHO IS IT FOR?

Kaiut yoga is for everyone, anywhere, anytime. From athletes to octogenarians, Kaiut serves all ages and body types; active to sedentary, supple to stiff.  If you are in robust health, this yoga is for you. If you have joint replacements, surgeries, or health challenges, this yoga is for you. If you are a long-time single sport athlete that’s developed imbalances leading to chronic injuries and pain, this yoga is yours. As Francisco says:

“Kaiut yoga helps you create your own personalized ‘blue zone’ that you can take with you wherever you go.”

WHAT TO EXPECT IN A CLASS?

Each hour-long class is unique and includes simple and effective poses. Kaiut teachers adapt the poses for each student’s individual structure. Teachers identify creative, positive, inclusive solutions to preserve and enhance function for each student. Classes are taught with verbal cueing, rather than demonstration.

Class sequences are designed to encourage the body to move in ways in which it was originally designed. Poses are often held for a long time, as a way to release adhesions in the connective tissue which in turn strengthens and opens the joints, delivering more lasting changes. Results may be immediate and profound; and other times more slow and subtle.

Kaiut yoga engages body, mind, and spirit in a way that restores function so we can be at our best.

WHAT STUDENTS SAY …

"Susan has a very gracious way of holding space for students. Her love of Kaiut Yoga and passion for helping others heal are both evident in her teaching. Even in a crowded room, I felt Susan's care and guidance was direct. Can't wait for my next class!" — AP

“I have loved practicing Kaiut Yoga with Susan.  Her verbal cues are so easy to follow.  I often think she has somehow managed to get inside my head and body to know what subtle change in position will yield maximum results for strength, flexibility, and total relaxation.  Susan’s voice is calm, soothing, and caring.  She creates the ideal environment to focus within.”  — AK

“Susan is a rare ‘breed’ of health practitioner: an empath and profound healer with a deep source of knowledge. She introduced me to the restorative benefits of Kaiut Yoga and Jin Shin Jyutsu, both which have had a very positive impact on my health. I’ve attended numerous Kaiut classes she has taught, attended an amazing Wellness Retreat that Susan led, and had private sessions with her. I cannot recommend her highly enough for her uncanny intuition, compassion and healing energy.” — AL

“I always appreciate Susan’s Kaiut yoga classes. She is very specific in her instructions and cuing. She makes everyone from beginner to experienced feel welcome, comfortable, and capable of participating in the class.” — BA

“Love your classes!” — BF
