Born with an optimistic outlook, I was fortunate to be mentored by a diverse range of teachers who shaped my approach to healing. During high school, I worked for a florist who was diabetic. She introduced me to natural food methods for blood sugar management. I spent two summers with an inspiring elderly couple on a farm in Martha’s Vineyard learning about organic gardening, seed-to-tree cultivation, the nutritional wisdom of Adele Davis, hand-churning ice cream, and meditation. In my twenties, personal health challenges taught me about the body’s remarkable resilience and the interconnection between mind, body, and spirit.
